5 Things to Know Before Your Commercial Shoot
Preparation separates a good shoot from a great one. Whether you are booking your first commercial photography session or your tenth, these five points will help you get the most from your time with us.
1. Define the End Use First
Where will the images appear — social media, print, a website banner, or a billboard? The intended format shapes every decision from lens choice to aspect ratio.
2. Brief the Talent Early
If your shoot involves people, send them a mood board and wardrobe guidance at least a week in advance. Last-minute outfit decisions rarely photograph well.
3. Scout the Location Together
We strongly recommend a pre-shoot walkthrough of any new location. This lets us identify the best natural light windows and plan the shot list with confidence.
4. Build in Buffer Time
A realistic schedule includes setup, a short test-shot warm-up, the main session, and a review window. Rushing the final 20 minutes of a shoot is where most missed shots happen.
5. Communicate Your Non-Negotiables
Every client has one or two shots that are essential. Tell us upfront and we will protect time for those frames before exploring creative variations.
